Everglades Foundation to host Tallahassee summit

Audubon encouraged by $40 million for Everglades in proposed 2012 budget

In sharp contrast to the $17 million set aside for the Everglades in the 2011 budget, Scott has proposed that $40 million be directed to restoration efforts in the budget for fiscal year 2012. In addition, Florida Forever is proposed to receive $15 million, when they received nothing from the 2011 budget.

Lodging plan for Flamingo area of Everglades National Park continues to evolve

Park Service Director Jon Jarvis and park planner Fred Herling have discussed the original plan for two lodges and have chosen to entirely revamp the lodging plan. What they are changing it to is still under discussion.
